This has implications for income, as the rise of inequality stems largely from family disintegration driven by changing attitudes toward sex, marital fidelity, and familial responsibility. It also has implications for health, as children of older mothers have greater risks for chromosomal disorders, miscarriage, premature birth, and low birth weight. Also, older mothers have greater risks of high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, and placental problems. However, these can often be mitigated by healthy lifestyle choices and prenatal care.
