Despite predictions that overpopulation and global warming would cause massive famines, the portion of the world’s population that was undernourished declined from 13% in 2001 to 9% in 2022, including the upward spike from Covid lockdowns. During this time, the global population increased by 27%, and the average global atmospheric temperature rose by about 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Likewise, the average number of calories needed to lift the undernourished people of the world out of that condition decreased from 172 calories in 1992 to 88 calories in 2016, and the global average daily food supply per person increased by 10% from 2000 to 2023.
