In 1970, 6% of jobs in the U.S. held by adults without a high school diploma were held by immigrants. By 2024, this figure had risen to 60%. Many of these jobs are held by illegal immigrants who work off the books and likely depress the wages of low-income Americans. In contrast, the reduced prices from their cheap labor mainly benefit high-income Americans.
