In the U.S., 20% of people develop cancer by the age of 70. Some of the leading risk factors associated with cancer are age, obesity, alcohol abuse, genetics, sexually transmitted infections, and tobacco use. EPA computer models, which have considerable uncertainty, estimate that air toxics from outdoor sources increase the average risk of cancer over the first 70 years of life by 0.003 percentage points.
