About 43% of Mexican and Central American immigrants in the U.S. aged 25–64 don’t have a high school diploma or GED. In comparison, this is the case for 5% of people born in the U.S., 8% of immigrants from Africa and Oceana, 6% of immigrants from Asia, and 3% of immigrants from Canada and Europe. On average, people with low education levels have higher poverty rates, receive more welfare, and commit more crimes.
