Per the Congressional Budget Office, unaccompanied minors who illegally cross the border and are allowed into the U.S. "receive housing, health care, education, and legal services" from the federal government that "will cost about $69,000 in 2024 for each child." Under a bill called the "Secure the Border Act" that has passed the House of Representatives, "550,000 fewer unaccompanied alien children would remain in the United States over the 2024-2033 period than would stay under current law." However, 100% of House Democrats voted against the bill, and the Democrat-controlled Senate hasn't taken any action on it.
