In 2020, the latest year for which the CDC has published complete data, 118 U.S. children and youth aged 5 to 18 died with some involvement from Covid-19, while 2,198 were murdered. Because Covid-19 is not always the primary cause of death in cases where it played some role, these facts show that U.S. children and youth aged 5 to 18 are at least 19 times more likely to die of murder than Covid-19. Yet, governments in the U.S. and throughout the world have locked down healthy children and young adults who are far more likely to die from the common hazards of life than from Covid.
