In 2020, 44% of Mexican and Central American immigrants in the U.S. aged 25 to 64 did not have a high school diploma or GED. In comparison, this is the case for 9% of immigrants from the Caribbean and South America, 8% of immigrants from Africa and Oceana, 7% of immigrants from Asia, 5% of people born in the U.S., and 3% of immigrants from Canada and Europe. On average, people with low education levels have higher poverty rates, receive more welfare, and commit more crimes.
