The unity government was formed through elections after U.S. Armed Forces toppled the Taliban in 2001. Now that the Taliban has retaken control of the nation by force, U.S. Congressperson Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is tweeting that the "last 20 years" in Afghanistan have been a period of "occupation."
