At the recent presidential debate, Joe Biden claimed that "not one single person with private insurance would lose their insurance under my plan, nor did they under Obamacare." Likewise, Barack Obama promised at least 39 times that everyone who liked their health insurance could keep it under Obamacare. In reality, when Obamacare's health insurance mandates went into effect, all plans that did not meet criteria specified in the law were cancelled. By the end of 2013, millions of people (precise number unknown) had received health insurance cancellation notices due to Obamacare. However, some of these people became eligible to enroll in Medicaid or purchase federally-subsidized insurance through the Obamacare exchanges. On the other hand, those government plans typically have far fewer doctors and hospitals in network, which reduces patient's access to care and their costs if they obtain care out of the network.
