Per a February 24th report on Covid-19 by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: "Fourteen cases have been diagnosed in the United States, in addition to 39 cases among repatriated persons from high-risk settings, for a current total of 53 cases within the United States. ... There have been 2,462 associated deaths worldwide; no deaths have been reported in the United States." In comparison, an average of 37,000 people per year in the U.S. have died from the flu over the past nine years, and 70,000 people died from drug overdoses in 2017.
