In 2017, 14% of noninstitutionalized young adults in the U.S. aged 20 to 24 were neither enrolled in school nor working. By education level, this varied from a low of 7% for people with some college but no bachelor's degree, to 8% for people with a bachelor's degree or more, to 24% for people with only a high school diploma, and 37% for people with less than a high school education.
