Enhanced Obamacare Benefits

This is the latest In Fact. Click the left arrow for earlier ones.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D–IL) claims that the “Big Beautiful Trump budget ended up eliminating a tax credit” for “people in middle-income categories to pay for health insurance,” “so if you’re paying $1,000 a month for health insurance now, January 1st, it goes up to $2,000 a month.”

IN FACT, this welfare benefit was enacted by Democrats as a temporary Covid-era measure, and the Big Beautiful Bill has no impact on it. Under this handout, Obamacare recipients pay an average of only $74/month for health insurance, and if it expires, they will pay an average of just $159. This is less than the standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B, which is $185.
