U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I–VT) claims that Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill “will, unbelievably, double the cost of insurance premiums in the Affordable Care Act.”
IN FACT, only the fraction of the premiums not paid by taxpayers will double — from an average of just $74/month to $159. This is NOT due to the Big Beautiful Bill but the expiration of a Covid-era handout that doles out $14,680/year in welfare to 60-year-old couples with incomes of $125,000.
