U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I–VT) claims that “labor productivity has more than doubled since the late 1960s” while “workers’ compensation has barely budged.”
IN FACT, labor productivity and worker compensation have risen at roughly the same pace for as far back as data extend. Sanders is citing deceitful statistics that use discrepant inflation adjustments, don’t measure all compensation, and conflate different groups of workers.
