IN FACT, roughly 1 in every 38 people in Baltimore will ultimately have their lives cut short by murder if the city’s murder rate stays at the same level as 2024. Although Baltimore’s murder rate in 2024 was 40% below its peak in 2019, it was still 6.8 times the average for all metropolitan areas in the nation.
