Food Stamps & Hunger
U.S. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D–CA) claims that SNAP (aka Food Stamps) is “America’s most effective anti-hunger initiative.”
IN FACT, people who take Food Stamps are twice as likely to suffer from hunger than people with equivalent incomes who don’t take Food Stamps. The reasons for this are unclear, but moral hazard created by government dependency may be a root cause.
