U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I–VT) claims that a Republican plan to cut “$1.1 BILLION from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting” is a “step toward authoritarianism” and an attack on “freedom of the press.”

IN FACT, freedom of the press has nothing to do with forcing taxpayers to fund selected media outlets. It also doesn’t give media corporations “any special rights” to free speech beyond everyone else, a fact that Sanders scorns.
