Medicaid for Illegal Immigrants
Democrat House Leader Hakeem Jeffries claims that a Republican bill to reform Medicaid will throw “nearly 14M” Americans and “American children” off their health insurance” because “not a single undocumented immigrant in this country gets a dime in Federal taxpayer dollars for any part of comprehensive Medicaid coverage.”
IN FACT, the “14M” estimate cited by Jeffries reflects policies that are not in the Republican bill. Moreover, it counts all who lose insurance, including illegal immigrants who no longer receive Medicaid because the Republican bill provides less money to states that give Medicaid to illegals. This incentivizes states to stop this practice, as California government Gavin Newsom just proposed.
