Record National Debt
The New York Times claims that the national debt is “on track to overtake” its “record” share of the U.S. economy from “1945, after a world war and the Great Depression.”
IN FACT, the national debt broke that record in 2020 during the pandemic and is still higher than the 1945 level. The Times, however, excludes a major part of the debt, a fact that it buries in a hyperlink under a chart in the article.
