ICE Facility Melee
U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims that the federal agents who stopped 3 Congresspeople from entering an ICE detention facility in Newark, NJ “should be facing consequences” because “members of Congress have legal authority to enter ICE and CBP facilities.”
IN FACT, the law does not allow Congresspeople to push their way into such a facility at any entry point they choose. Furthermore, violent criminals are being detained in this facility, which requires the use of security measures to keep the staff and visitors safe.
