IN FACT, Trump’s USDA rolled out a 5-pronged strategy on 2/28 to solve this problem, and the national average wholesale price for a dozen XL eggs has declined from $6.61 on the day of Trump’s inauguration to $3.19 on 3/17.
Retail egg prices typically lag wholesale prices by several weeks, and the price for a dozen XL eggs at the supermarket closest to Just Facts is now $4.74.
California, where Lieu lives, has enacted regulations that drive egg prices well above the national average, and the Trump administration is pressuring California to fix this problem.
