New York Governor Kathy Hochul claims that “the Electoral College does not contribute to the overriding objectives set forth in our great Constitution” and should be replaced by “the popular vote”
IN FACT, the Electoral College is a safeguard against tyrannical mob rule. The authors of the Constitution explicitly rejected the idea of creating a pure democracy because it allows the majority to easily violate the rights of the minority.
