Worldwide Deforestation
President Biden claims, “Each minute the world is chopping down the equivalent of 10 soccer fields worth of forests,” and “that’s why my administration has been a leader internationally in the fight to end and reverse deforestation by 2030.”
IN FACT, the UN reported in 2018 that most regions of the world are experiencing positive or small-to-no changes in forest area. Furthermore, the journal Nature reported in 2018 that worldwide tree cover increased by roughly 7.1% from 1982–2016.
