“Democracy”
Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann claims that the “Supreme Court has betrayed democracy” by ruling that the state of Colorado cannot ban people from voting for Donald Trump.
IN FACT, the very definition of “democracy” is “government by the people,” and Colorado’s action was the antithesis of this. George Orwell warned in 1946 about people who use words like “democracy” in a “consciously dishonest way” by creating their “own private definition.”
Incidentally, the U.S. is not a democracy but a democratic constitutional republic, and there are important differences between them.
