School Choice Beneficiaries
Texas Congressman James Talarico (D) is citing statistics to argue that school choice “vouchers don’t help poor kids — they just help rich parents who already send their kids to private school.”
IN FACT, Talarico’s statistics are way off. The portion of voucher beneficiaries who were already in private schools in New Hampshire is not 89% but 44%, Arizona is not 75% but 37%, and Wisconsin is not 76% but 13%. School choice actually helps poor kids, improves public schools, and saves taxpayers money.
