U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D–MA) claims that “Israel needs to stop bombing Gaza” because “Israel obligated under the laws of war to protect civilians,” and it’s “not possible to end Hamas’s terrorism by just dropping more bombs.”
IN FACT, the laws of war require combatants to “reduce the risk of harm” to civilians “only to the extent feasible or consistent with military necessity.” Israel does that by warning civilians to get out of harm’s way, while Hamas uses them as human shields.
