Gun Massacres & Bans
Cal Berkeley professor Robert Reich claims that “gun massacres fell by 37%” after “assault weapons” were banned in the ‘90s and then “rose by 183%” when the ban “lapsed.”
IN FACT, Reich’s statistics are from a demonstrably false study. Comprehensive data show that mass shooting deaths barely budged before, during, or after the 90’s ban on certain semiautomatic guns or an ongoing 80’s ban on fully automatic guns. Any minor changes are better explained by other factors.
