Government “Shutdown”
NBC News claims that “the government will shut down at 12:01 a.m. ET on Sunday if Congress does not act.”
IN FACT, the vast bulk of federal government activities will continue if congress and the president don’t reach an agreement on spending. For example, the FDA’s “summary of activities that continue” states that “15,602 (81%) of FDA staff will be retained,” and “998 would be working directly on COVID-19 response activities.”
