Biden’s Immigration Record
Former President Joe Biden claims that “despite the fact that Covid drove migration to record levels all around the world, the day I left office, border crossings into the U.S. were lower than the day that I entered that office.”
IN FACT, global migration averaged 3% above the pre-Covid level in the first 2 years of Biden’s presidency, while illegal immigration to the U.S. was up 120%. This jumped to 206% in 2023, and full data for 2024 is not yet available.
Biden, his fellow Democrats, and journalists have repeatedly dissembled about Biden’s immigration record by:
- insisting that the “border is secure,” while Border Patrol gotaways grew by 6.1 times.
- declaring that Biden deported more illegal immigrants than Trump, while in reality, he deported half as many.
- alleging that Biden deported more criminals than Trump, while he deported half as many.
- asserting that illegal immigration was declining while Biden was allowing millions of legally inadmissible aliens into the U.S. by distorting a federal law that allows for such entries “only on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”
