Biden’s Immigration Record

This is the latest In Fact. Click the left arrow for earlier ones.

Former President Joe Biden claims that “despite the fact that Covid drove migration to record levels all around the world, the day I left office, border crossings into the U.S. were lower than the day that I entered that office.”

IN FACT, global migration averaged 3% above the pre-Covid level in the first 2 years of Biden’s presidency, while illegal immigration to the U.S. was up 120%. This jumped to 206% in 2023, and full data for 2024 is not yet available.

Biden, his fellow Democrats, and journalists have repeatedly dissembled about Biden’s immigration record by:

  • insisting that the “border is secure,” while Border Patrol gotaways grew by 6.1 times.
  • declaring that Biden deported more illegal immigrants than Trump, while in reality, he deported half as many.
  • alleging that Biden deported more criminals than Trump, while he deported half as many.
  • asserting that illegal immigration was declining while Biden was allowing millions of legally inadmissible aliens into the U.S. by distorting a federal law that allows for such entries “only on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”
