IN FACT, taxpayers spend an average of $100,487 per year to pay the salary and benefits of each full-time public school teacher, not including unfunded pension liabilities and retiree health insurance.
Moreover, full-time private industry workers work an average of 37% more hours per year than full-time public school teachers, including time spent on lesson preparation, test construction and grading, providing extra help to students, coaching, and other activities.
