“Raiding” Social Security

IN FACT, the government has never “raided” Social Security or its Trust Fund but borrows the program’s surpluses and then pays back this money with interest, as required by the original Social Security Act of 1935.
Since 2010, Social Security has been using those government interest payments to cover its shortfalls:
