Bernie Sanders claims that Benjamin Netanyahu “is a war criminal” who “should not be addressing Congress.”
IN FACT, Hamas wantonly murdered 1,000+ Israelis, and Netanyahu has pursued Hamas while warning civilians to get out of harm’s way. This accords with the U.S. Law of War Manual that requires combatants to “reduce the risk of harm” to civilians “only to the extent feasible or consistent with military necessity.”
Meanwhile, Hamas exploits civilians as human shields and uses hospitals to launch missiles, hold hostages, and hide terrorists. These acts directly violate the U.S. Law of War Manual because they endanger the lives of civilians. Yet, Sanders blames Netanyahu for the resulting carnage.
